Early/mid/late progression with core mod strategies — read this first.

📖 What This Modpack Is About

COBBLEVERSE is an authentic Pokémon adventure modpack built on the Cobblemon mod. Built on 1.21.1 Fabric — with the clear goal of 'Pokémon RPG inside Minecraft,' it goes beyond simply catching Pokémon. **Gym systems, trainer battles, story progression, and evolution mechanics** integrate like a real Pokémon game.

**There are four core systems.** Catch / train / evolve has you capture wild Pokémon with Poké Balls, gain XP through battles, and evolve via level, item, or friendship conditions. The gym system has you battle gym NPCs scattered across the map to collect badges, and gathering all badges unlocks the champion challenge. Type matchups — grass, fire, water, electric, ice — work just like in mainline Pokémon games, and the Friendship (Bean) system has grass blocks drop Bean seeds that you grow and feed to Pokémon to raise friendship, which is essential for friendship-based evolutions.

**Closer to 'Pokémon than Minecraft.'** Almost no automation/tech mods — it's regular Minecraft + full Pokémon RPG systems combined. Mining and building stay at base-management level; 90% of progression is Pokémon activities (catching, training, gym challenges). Different position from All the Mons' 'ATM10 + Cobblemon' bundle — **COBBLEVERSE feels like 'a pure Pokémon game ported into Minecraft.'**

With an 11-year-old, COBBLEVERSE is the **#1 modpack kids will love**. Pokémon-loving kids lose track of time and dive deep, and parents can share goals (gym challenges, hunting legendaries) with their kids. Almost no scary content, and any battle violence stays at mainline Pokémon's friendly level. Highly recommended even as a kid's first modpack. My family routine became 'Dad, let's clear one more gym today' — one gym per day became a daily rhythm.

Vs All the Mons / ATM10: ATM10 is automation/tech kitchen-sink, All the Mons is ATM10 + Cobblemon combined, COBBLEVERSE **focuses purely on Pokémon RPG**. If 'I want only Pokémon and find automation heavy,' COBBLEVERSE is the answer.

Once you actually launch it, the natural starting point ends up being Recommend Charmander as starter. There's a bit of fumbling at first, but after a death or two you start seeing the rhythm this pack is going for. If that sounds like your kind of thing, this is the sort of pack you'll end up sinking several days into the same save.

💡 Quick Start Tips

If you're just starting, keeping these three in mind makes the first hour or two much smoother. Read top to bottom — they're written as a flow, not a checklist.

1 Recommend Charmander as starter — You receive a starter Pokémon at world start — **Charmander is recommended**. Reasons: Charmander has a rare wild spawn rate, hard to get otherwise; its evolution line endpoint (Charizard) flies, making late-game travel significantly convenient. Grass and water types are common in the wild — no need to take them as starters. With kids, give your kid grass or water (Bulbasaur/Squirtle) while you raise Charmander.

2 Apricorn farm = first base task — Poké Balls are the core resource for all progression. **Build an Apricorn farm right after settling base** — Cobblemon's Apricorn trees yield various colors, each becoming a different Poké Ball type (red = Fire Ball, blue = Water Ball, etc.). Planting all colors evenly makes late-game specialty ball crafting easier.

3 Learn the type matchup chart once — Type matchups work exactly like mainline Pokémon. **Start with the basic triangle: water → beats fire, fire → beats grass, grass → beats water.** With kids, drawing the type chart on paper together is both learning and fun. Each gym has a fixed type, so challenging with type-counter Pokémon makes it noticeably easier.

❓ FAQ

How is it different from All the Mons / ATM10?

Three clearly distinct positions. **ATM10**: pure kitchen-sink (no Pokémon, focused on automation/tech/magic). **All the Mons**: ATM10 + Cobblemon bundle (automate and catch). **COBBLEVERSE**: pure Cobblemon adventure (almost no automation, focused on Pokémon). 'Only Pokémon' → COBBLEVERSE, 'Pokémon + automation' → All the Mons, 'Only automation' → ATM10. If your kid loves Pokémon games, COBBLEVERSE is a low-pressure entry.

Is it okay to play with an 11-year-old?

**Very suitable — top recommendation as a kid's first modpack.** I play with my own 11-year-old, and COBBLEVERSE has no graphic violence and battles stay at mainline Pokémon's friendly level — visually and audibly very safe. Kids have clear goals (gym challenges, legendary hunts) to progress daily, keeping interest long. Best fit for family play where parent and kid share the same goals.

I can't find any Pokémon.

**Spawns vary by biome and time of day.** Grass types in forests/plains, water types near rivers/oceans, fire types in deserts/Nether, ice types in snow biomes — varied biome exploration is mandatory. Also **Ghost and Dark types spawn only at night**. Don't stay in one place for the first hour; after settling base, scout 30–50 blocks around to meet diverse Pokémon.

Where are the legendary Pokémon?

**Extremely rare, spawn only under specific conditions.** Some legendaries appear only in specific dimensions, structures, or events; others have extremely low wild spawn rates. Check the pack author's Discord or in-game guidebook for exact locations. With kids, treating it as a long-term mission like 'find one legendary every weekend' is fun.

How do I store and swap Pokémon?

Use **Cobblemon's PC system**. Craft a PC yourself or find one near certain NPCs. Carry up to 6 at a time; the rest go in PC boxes. **Pre-define type/role-based box classification** (attack box, defense box, friendship-evolution waiting box, etc.) to manage 100+ Pokémon in late game.
